HESA is a 501 3(c) not for profit organization for types of autoimmune encephalitis specifically Hashimoto's Encephalopathy (HE)
and other Seronegative types of autoimmune encephalitis.
Seronegative means there is no known antibody to cause it.
As research progresses in the world of Hashimoto’s Encephalopathy (HE), it is clear there is still much to be understood about this rare and puzzling form of Autoimmune Encephalitis/Encephalopathy (AE).
After careful consideration of new research and thorough consulting with our Medical Advisory Panel,
HESA is expanding our community to include both HE and Seronegative AE.
Both HE and Seronegative AE share similar challenges in diagnosis, support, and research needs.
By expanding HESA’s reach, we can focus on projects that serve both HE and Seronegative AE patients with the goal of a better future for these lesser understood forms of AE.
We have reflected this change in the meaning of the HESA name — Hashimoto’s Encephalopathy/SREAT & Seronegative Autoimmune encephalitis alliance — but we still remain with the same focus of providing support, education, research, and awareness for HE/AE. Together we are stronger. Together we are HESA. Thank you for your continued support of our mission.
