BRIGHT & CPCare – Innovating the Future of Brain Injury Recovery

At the Hashimoto Encephalopathy SREAT Alliance (HESA), we believe that navigating rare autoimmune and neurological conditions requires a global "village" of support and cutting-edge science. We are proud to partner with the BRIGHT Foundation, an organization dedicated to transforming outcomes for those living with chronic brain injury and neurodiversity.

Who is BRIGHT?

Founded in 2002 by families who experienced the challenges of brain injury firsthand, BRIGHT (Brain Injury Group – Hope through Treatment) is a parent-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit. They bridge the gap between lab-based science and the real-world needs of caregivers, focusing on three core pillars:

  • Advocating for breakthrough research in neuroregeneration and neuroplasticity.

  • Equipping families with best-practice tools and peer-led support.

  • Driving a "science-first" agenda to find functional cures for chronic conditions.

Supporting the Caregiver: CPCare.org

One of BRIGHT’s flagship projects is CPCare.org, a comprehensive online support hub designed for families navigating complex neurological journeys. While "CP" stands for Cerebral Palsy, the platform serves as an award-winning resource for anyone managing chronic brain injury, providing:

  • Web-based Education: Short modules on managing motor symptoms, communication, and home-based therapy strategies.

  • Global Community: A vibrant space connecting families and sharing resources across geographic regions.

  • Caregiver Mentorship: Access to 24/7 email support and peer-led groups to ensure no family feels they are navigating their diagnosis alone.

Searching for a Cure: CPCure.org

BRIGHT’s research hub, CPCure.org, focuses on the intersection of "Hardware" (cell regeneration) and "Software" (neuroplastic training). They advocate for:

  • Stem Cell Therapies to repair damaged neural tissue.

  • Neuromodulation (like VNS and TMS) to unlock new functional gains.

  • Neuroplasticity-based Rehabilitation such as Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) and robotic-assisted training.

Why This Partnership Matters

Many in the Hashimoto’s Encephalopathy community understand the long-term journey of cognitive and motor recovery that can follow an acute episode. By collaborating with BRIGHT and CPCare, HESA members gain access to a broader network of expertise in brain health, neuroplasticity, and advocacy.

Together, we are working to ensure that every individual impacted by neuroinflammatory or autoimmune brain conditions has a pathway toward recovery and a community that truly understands.
